Valentines Day Recap

Dustin and I love Valentines Day. The past few that we've had while being married have been awesome!! Dustin always goes above and beyond for me and I always feel so special on that day. Last year he bought me a luxury trip to Vegas- it was the best vacation of my life, the year before that he bought me a pearl bracelet and a white sapphire necklace and sent me flowers to work, the year before that he built me a custom headboard for our bed that I had seen on the DIY channel and loved. So this year I wanted to do something really special for him. So I went online and bought tickets to the Daughtry concert that's coming to Atlanta in June. He was so surprised and loved it!! I can't wait until June!! And by the way, he lived up to expectation this year too. He got us tickets to the Zing Zang Zoom Circus while it's here in Atlanta. I haven't been to a circus since I was a very little girl when my family lived in Vidalia and I've been dying to go every year that it comes to town. I love the circus!!! :) I would mark this Valentines Day as a success!!

Movie Review: Percy Jackson and the Olympians

We went to see this movie because I had read the book and liked it. However, if you're in the same boat as me--just going because you liked the book--don't go. This movie doesn't follow the book at all. They use some of the same characters but change everything else. The storyline is different, major events are left out, and scenes are just created for the movie. I annoyed the crap out of Dustin by leaning over every two minutes to say, "That's not in the book." "That's not how that happened." "I can't believe they left that part out!" "She doesn't say that in the book." "Actually in the book...". Poor thing eventually told me that he would never take me to another movie based on a book I'd read if I didn't stop talking during the movie. But just as a movie, standing all on it's own, this was a pretty good movie. If I had never read the book and didn't notice all the changes, then I would have liked the movie. Dustin liked the movie just the way it was and he was the regular movie-goer audience. I would recommend this to anyone who just wants to go see a good movie with a good story, but not to all the avid book readers out there.

Movie Review: Dear John

Overall this is an ok movie. Just don't go expecting the best acting in the world. You get pretty faces in this movie, not acting. The first part of the movie is extremely boring and Dustin threatened to walk out on me. The chemistry between the pair is a little odd, you're not going to get Leonardo and Kate in this movie. If you're going for a tear-jerker, the only emotional parts are between father and son, not Amanda and Channing. The best acting was done while the two were filming separately, he in Iraq and her at school, basically when all they were doing was reading letters. The story is great, just like any Nicolas Sparks story is, but you may want to just stick to the book on this one.

Movie Review: Sherlock Holmes

LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! This movie was great! I didn't even notice the length as the movie played and was totally wrapped up in the storyline and details the whole time. Robert Downey Jr is brilliant and Jude Law was actually pretty entertaining! I'm always a fan of Rachel McAdams, but I think someone else would've been better in this role. The pictures and stunts are great and humor is placed throughout the movie in the best spots. This will definitely be part of our movie collection!

Movie Review: Avatar

Everyone seems to love this movie. It was a good movie, don't get me wrong, but you could feel the three hours pass slowly. The graphics are great, the acting is great, the storyline is good. The only bad thing is the length, way too long. But overall, Dustin and I liked it. I don't think it's a movie I would own or ever watch again, but a good movie. It definitely deserves any awards that it may win.

Soooo......

I guess it's time for an update. I've been so sick I couldn't bring myself to update anything on our blog. Actually, I haven't been able to do much of anything besides come to work. Pregnancy doesn't seem to sit too well with me. I get sick in the mornings, I'm sick and tired during the day, and I pass out around 6:00 every evening. Needless to say, the only time I see Dustin is when I have to get up in the middle of the night to pee and on the weekends. Weekends used to be the worst time of the week for me, but now they're becoming a little easier as long as I remember to snack every hour. :) But enough about the woes of pregnancy, back to an update. Dustin and I take it pretty easy during the week, but on the weekends we've been trying to plug in as much as my body will allow us to. We love to squeeze in movies when we can and go shopping at the mall. Last weekend, we bought our first baby item! We bought a little mini baby bath robe! It's so cute!! And white, so it could be for a boy or a girl. If anyone has talked to Dustin lately, then they have the distinct impression that we're definitely having a boy, but that's not necessarily true. At our last doc appt the doctor said that she thinks it's boy, but to wait until our next appt to be sure. Dustin called his family on the way home and told them we're having a boy and then posted it on Facebook. Yeah. But the wait is almost over, we should be getting a definite answer this coming Monday. I can't wait to know for sure!! As soon as we find out we'll be painting the nursery, buying the furniture and bedding, and starting our registry. You know, all the fun stuff!! :) So many of our friends and family have just had their babies, so we're looking for the fast forward button on this pregnancy stage so we can have our little baby now! And we do have a name picked out, but just for a boy. We haven't been able to come up with a complete girl's name yet. But if it is a boy, the name will be Duke Theron Norton. We've had this name picked out for 3 years! It will be great to finally be able to use it! Other than baby news there is not much going on in our lives. I'm working. Dustin's working. Our house is a mess bc I'm so sick and tired all the time. :) We've been snowed in a lot from all the bizare weather GA has been having. (Which I HATE.) I think that's all though. :)

Baby News

Since Dustin and I are finally expecting after a long road of infertility we are extremely obsessed with all things baby now. Dustin got an app for his iPhone that keeps track of our pregnancy, gives us info and pics on a regular basis, and stores our favorite baby names and doctor appointments. I've signed up for babycenter.com, which sends us weekly email updates about the baby and keeps us on track with things we need to learn or take care of. I also signed up for thebump.com, which is my favorite site, it's also the sister site to theknot.com for weddings and thenest.com for newly weds. I love it!! It has this amazing checklist of everything that I need to take care of during a pregnancy and different "milestones" that come up and when I need to expect them. It's great!! We also took a trip this weekend to Borders and picked up A Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy and Belly Laughs. We've owned What to Expect When Expecting for years, the information actually helped when we were trying to start a family before going to see a specialist. We're really excited about this and it should be a fun road to travel down!!!
